My time in Asira ash-Shamaliya was short, but very, very sweet. I made it along to two sessions at the skatepark, witnessed some of the locals absolutely SHRED, and made a tonne of new friends. Here are some photo’s and words from my short time in Asira ash-Shamaliya, Palestine with SkatePal this August.
SkatePAL session at asira skatepark: 29.08.2023

In just 48 hours we did LOADS of hitch-hiking. A neighbour came round and cooked THE most delicious Shakshouka I’ve ever eaten. I annihilated George and Rosie 3 times in a row at card games whilst eating delicious Falafel sandwiches. Then we hiked up a huge hill at 5:30am for the most beautiful sunrise of my life at the infamous ‘Beit Al-Zaki’ tree…
SUNRISE AT THE ‘BEIT AL-ZAKI’ TREE: 30TH AUGUST 2023

On the way back to the flat we were invited into a bakery to see how the lads made the bread, then they gave us some of the freshest batch for free! I also got proposed to on multiple occasions.. but we’ll try and forget about that part. Ha.
Next time I visit Palestine I will make sure to spend more time in Asira, it is beautiful. Thank you, Asira!
My fundraiser is still live if you want to donate, you can do that here — and it will be greatly appreciated!
Stay tuned for an overall recap of my time in Palestine with SkatePal this year, where I’ll share all of my favourite memories and favourite people!
