Well wasn’t that the best weekend of our lives!? Camp VC 2024 did not disappoint, does it ever? I would say let’s drop right in and look at some highlights, but this might be some people’s first time hearing about Camp VC, sooooooo what is it!?
WHAT IS CAMP VC!?
Camp VC is a yearly ‘epic world of adventure’, for women and non-binary people. It’s based in Wales, includes a plethora of different motorbike classes, many other exciting activities such as axe throwing, knitting with nan and KARAOKE!!! OH, and we have the pleasure of running a full on skate school there!

As both an attendee and worker, I agree that besides all of the immensely cool activities that you can get up to, community is by far the most incredible thing about Camp VC.
Camp VC is for all Women+ and is fiercely LGBTQIA+ friendly!

OUR 2024 TEAM!
Meet Shanko’s Camp VC dream team for 2024:
CATH (SHE/her)
First up we have Cath Shanks a.k.a. Shanko; Founder and director of Shanko’s, who loves to keep her feet firmly on the ground and coach as much as possible. However, we think she got a little too excited over this years limbo competition, calm it mate…
LEMON (she/her)
Next up, our super assistant Lemon; who just brought the vibes all weekend long and kept the team alive and functioning. Bringing her coaching expertise in as well when needed, our super asset.
KAITLYN (she/her)
…and making her Shanko’s AND Camp VC debut (I know, can you believe it!?) we had the incredible Kaitlyn Massey. It was an absolute pleasure to work alongside such an incredible skateboarder, coach and person in general. A perfect fit for the team, thank you so much Kaitlyn, please come back next year, or we might just cry…
Here’s a rare picture of the whole team together; At the end of each session we do a celebration circle (ahead of the team photo’s which you’re about to see) where every person who attended says somethings they’re proud of for, and everyone celebrates.
This can be anything, from learning a new trick, to committing to something scary, or just turning up. We all have those doubts which sometimes take over, but at Camp we don’t let them win, because we’re surrounded by a huge support network. YAY-NO-MEN to that!
TEAM PHOTO’S!
At the end of every session we try to get a team photo, sometimes that’s the individual lesson group, but mostly we try to group everyone together and get a whole group photo, so if you did a class and jumped in a photo, hopefully you’ll find yourself here, if you scroll!
We’re sorry if you can’t find yourself in a photo, sometimes we ran out of time, or maybe I just don’t have it, because we definitely did more sessions than this… hahaha. So if you have a group photo, email me it and I’ll whack it up!!!
We’ll use this as an opportunity to thank everyone who took a chance on skateboarding this year, who put themselves outside of their comfort zone, tried something new, or just shredded in general. It’s always an absolute honour to support you all in your skateboarding journey, and to party with you on the night, hehe. YEEEEE HAW.

Every new face is a blessing and seeing people return year after year is a gift.
Being a part of the furniture at Camp VC now, it’s one of our wildest dreams and we feel sooooooo lucky to get to share all of these moments with you. We lose our voices from screaming with joy at you all achieving your goals, so many hugs and hi-5’s, the lot.
IT’S THE BEST FEELING IN THE WORLD.
