Over a 3 year period of learning, collating, reflecting and planning, Cath and her fellow Coach In Your Corner (CIYC) coaches finished designing and delivering their mental-health awareness in sport workshops.
Here we announce: Skate and Soar Project.
Skate and Soar project is a 6-week Mental Health awareness through Skateboarding program, aimed at gurls aged 11-17.
The project covers common mental-health disorders such as; Anxiety, Depression and Disordered Eating. As well as discussions about body confidence, suicide awareness and the importance of talking about mental health, and seeking help.
We completed the pilot program delivery in June/July 2025 and secured a funding extension to deliver a second, revised program in October/November 2025. As this funding draws to a close, we hope to gain valuable feedback from the participants to help improve and fine tune the course, to suit it to the gurls’ highest needs and fingers crossed, in the future we can roll it out to more schools as a ready-made package program.
In November and December 2025 we plan to work alongside the girls who have completed the program to deliver some assemblies to other Girls in their school and year groups to share the important things they’ve learned in the program, and to reassure people that if anyone ever needs someone safe to talk to, they are there for them.

We will update this entry when the program is finished, with all the final data and hopefully some images!
